This area, remaining largely untouched by the war, retains the atmosphere established by “Edokko”, the locals who strive to maintain the vivid culture of downtown Edo to modern times. As a result, the sense of craftmanship has prevailed to today and can be tasted in the specialty dishes provided by local restaurants and shops. Suda-cho to Awaji-cho are well known for their restaurants selling traditional Japanese food, light meals, hot pot, and desserts. Of course you can’t go to every restaurants in one day, but just walking around the old fashioned shops, you can feel the atmosphere and influence of the “Edokko”.
